Ideally, teaching styles should be individually tailored to the student's needs. The one-on-one environment of tutoring offers an exceptional opportunity to do this! The learning styles of students vary widely; however, I believe all students respond to an approach which includes kindness, respect, persistence, and the acceptance of the student as an individual. I believe in encouraging students to ask questions, and showing them where to find the answers.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have classroom experience at the elementary and secondary level. While working on my AA degree I worked at a high school in a Language Arts class. Earlier in my education process I worked in a 2nd grade and a 3rd/4th grade class. I worked as a sub at the middle and high school level. I have extensive knowledge in all Humanities subjects, especially writing skills. I can utilize a myriad of different methods to meet the learning needs of a diverse student population. I especially like to use methods my students can relate to or connect with their own lives.
My philosophy for effective education is comprised of six components creativity, character, culture, civic capacity, shared governance and student centeredness.
