I have taught middle school language arts for 15 years in both public and private schools. I excel in teaching young people how to write clearly, completely, and concisely. While I can teach them grammar, punctuation, spelling, organization, and research skills. CONTENT often comes from the heart rather than the head. I have had several of my students win awards in writing completions. One struggling 8th grader worked so hard that he was accepted into an Honors English Class his freshman year in high school.

I was a tutor while in college. I tutored students in History, Accounting, and Greek. I was a double major:Accounting and Christian Ministry. I was a substitute teacher in Indiana from 1990-1994. I taught everything from Kindergarden to High School. I was a couple of teacher's personal sub. I also was involved with the program that dealt with students with developmental disabilites. Currently, I am homeschooling my daughter. She is very gifted, so we are letting her interests lead us. She is the hardest one I have ever taught, but that is because I am so close to her.
My teaching style is based on the student. One teaching style does not fit everyone. I have to see how the student learns and then adapt my teaching style to meet his or her needs. I love helping people, and especially when they get it. That is so rewarding.

I enjoy tutoring those who are in Middle School or High school. I feel as though they tend to have a higher capacity for sustaining attention. Those are unique ages that can really build a foundation for later education. I believe that one-on-one time is essential in learning. Some people might learn well in a large group, but others learn much better when time is spent on explaing specific details. Micro welding had to teach others how to set machines and run them. I built parts which went to the moon, had to teach the others how they were made. Owned an upholstery business and taught people how to sew, cut, and hang the materials on the furniture. I helped my sons and later my granddaughters with home work.
