I have taken many classes and seminars regarding personalities and teaching styles. I believe this is why when one of my daughters, now 16 years old, was having trouble in the third grade I pulled her and her twin sister and home schooled them through eighth grade. They now go to Santiam Christian where they excel - in fact the Admissions Coordinator told me that she has never seen kids do so well coming from a home school environment. It is my belief that when teaching you need to discover what teaching style best suits that individual and structure the teaching in that way. Since I was a young girl, the English language has been as important to me as breathing. Getting my Ph.D. in English has given me the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. During the last seven years I have been tutoring students at all grade levels, from elementary school through high school, as well as teaching classes in English at several universities. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching and creating interest in the subject that is being taught. I have learned from experiance that the more interested the students become in the subject, the better they learn. I have found that many students have a psychological barrier when it comes to mathematics and the sciences. Once that barrier is brought down, the students interest in the subject starts to perk, and it's all uphill from there. I strive to break the subject down for easy understanding, and at the same time create as much interest for the students as possible.

I also have extensive skills in writing and researching for my research papers. I also have great knowledge of APA format and can write an essay in no time flat.
I love working with children. I have helped with pre-K and grade school children with an emphasis on working with Autistic children. All children can succeed in school given the right tools; just because they do not get the idea from one method does not mean that they won't get it from a different method. I think that all children can learn regardless of age, learning ability or other status, if given a chance.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have had a variety of experiences as a teacher. I, at first, worked as a substitute for about 3 years. Then I worked as a 3rd-grade teacher in a private school for one year. Because of enrollment that position was cut. I went back to subbing for a time. From 2004-2009 I have worked for the Dallas School District as a personal tutor. I primarily worked with middle school-high school students. I tutored them both at home and at a computer lab on an internet program. That position was cut because of budget cuts. I am able to tutor in all basic subjects.
