In 2000 I volunteered in the local high school's journalism class because of my passion for writing. The following year I was offered a position as yearbook adviser, and I further developed my skills with high school students. Since 2004 I have been a private tutor, teaching all elementary subjects as well as most middle school and high school curriculum. In 2005 I began teaching annual writing workshops at Simpson College for 6th - 12th grade students. In 2006 I attended substitute teacher training, and I began substitute teaching in 2009. I have always been successful at teaching children to understand and believe that they can learn anything from hitting a baseball to doing algebra. Each child learns differently, as I have learned from my own children. Starting slowly and building on the fundamentals will open the child's eyes and give them the confidence to succeed. Children will learn if the teacher is patient and allows the child to see themselves as successful on their own.
