I have taught on the secondary high school level for 36yrs.My various teaching assignments included the following: Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, Sports Medicine, Health, Physical Education, CPR & AED Training. I have also coached on the same level the following sports at one time or another: Football, Wrestling, Track, Baseball, Golf, and Softball; as well as being a certified official in wrestling and softball. I have also participated in a numerous amount of "inservice" experiences. I enjoy watching students learn and to see them grow in knowledge and their ability to solve various challenges as they mature. i try to set an example for the students to emulate by letting them know I was at their age at one time, and that I needed help along the way as well.

I truly love helping others especially when it comes to learning. I believe in repetition for effective learning and providing relevant examples that the student can relate to. I think it's so sad when students are left behind in the classroom and feel as they are not up to par as some of the other students. I want to help and make sure that each student learns each subject matter to their full potential. As a Master's Degree graduate, I was very driven to succeed in the classroom across a variety of disciplines. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and have private tutored individuals across a variety of ages/backgrounds/abilities/disciplines. My primary focus areas are math, english/writing, psychology, and basic sciences. I enjoy working with all age groups. When working with older students I typically use a teaching style that involves asking the student a series of questions such that the student ends up answering their own question through deductive reasoning. I have found that a student utilizing this pedagogical method not only tends to more effectively remember the answers to the questions but understands the thought process that allowed them to arrive at those answers. I have also found that students are better able to pay attention for longer amounts of time with this active learning style as opposed to simply listening to a lecturer.
