Coming from a large family and having a large family myself, I have always been around children of all ages and enjoyed working with kids to develop themselves and prepare them for a meaningful place in our society. I am very patient with children and will use different approaches to teach. I try very hard to install a love of learning and work hard to encourage a curiousity of any subject that interests them. I believe in a strong basis of arithmetic skills in younger grades. In the high school, I use real-world applications to develop problem-solving skills through the use of mathematics.

My experience with helping others in math has been very enjoyable. Having worked at a university learning center as a tutor, I have helped students in all levels of math courses. My studies during college focused on specifically math where I have completed my bachelor's degree of science with a major in math. Having experienced a wide variety of math courses, I have found many approaches of ways to learn math material. These methods were applied when helping others to learn quickly.
Working with students in math, I like to ask what the student enjoys doing while not in school. I like to relate this to the math to make it more interesting as well as making it fun. As a student at Corning Community College, I was a tutor in the Math Learning Center. Of the two years I attended Corning, I worked in the MLC for one and a half of those years. As a tutor, I helped other students with subjects including: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, Applied Calculus, Calculus, and Calculus II. As a result of my tutoring style, I had several students return for additional assistance. As a result of being a tutor from Corning, I had the opportunity to work with a wide range of students. These students ranged from Freshman right out of High-School to working adults who are trying to further their education.
