Before I start tuoring a child, I like to get know them first. I think it's important to build trust with a child before jumping in and telling them what to do. A child will be more likely to accept help from someone they know rather than a total stanger. I like to make learning fun.
At Birmingham-Southern College, I was the News Editor for the college newspaper for two years. In addition, I have a minor in Journalism. I love to write and I feel that this is one of my strong points. I also tutor two young girls every Wednesday afternoon at Girls, Inc. of Central Alabama. I have taught for over twenty years from 4th grade to 9th grade; for the last nineteen years, I have taught English at the middle school level. I began my career teaching 4th grade. I have also taught 5th grade and 6th grade English and Math. I am highly qualified in Reading K-12 and Middle School Mathematics. For thirteen years, I taught 7th grade.
