I have a holistic, eclectic style of Teaching. When I work with any student,or students, I always determine what proficient level they are at.If they are having any problems grasping the subject, I must do diagnostic testing to remediate at progress from that point forward. When the student has reached a level of proficiency,he or she may move on to whatever subect,or level that pertains to. Yes, each student is unique and can reach their full potential under the right guidance encouragement, and support. Tutoring for YOU with compassion and excellence

I have taught a variety of subjects, and I have worked individuals from elementary school through college. I am currently working with Rochester Educational Opportunity Center as a part time instructor. In addition to this, I teach as a volunteer math tutor to adults who are preparing to their GED and TABE exams.
I work with students on their level, and then assist students to build skills at the next level. I work to match my instructional style so that it corresponds to the student's learning style and comfort level. Moreover, it is important to relate new information to something that is familiar to the student; this is also how I help students to learn.

Let me help you make a tough subject likeable

In 20 years of teaching experience I have tutored students of all ages, different socio-economic backgrounds and intellectual abilities, as well as in a wide variety of subjects. I have tutored in four public school systems, in private practice with with adults who needed help to prepare for tests and for adults who either wanted to study for their own enrichment or to advance in the corporate world.
The most important thing when working one-on-one with a student is to find out the best ways that student learns. Patience is important, as is humor.

A Little Bit About Me...

Since a classroom is filled with students who have different learning styles as described by Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences, I use a variety of ways to teach. Lectures are done through power point presentations, along with worksheets and handouts. Hands-on has been used in anatomy and physiology classes. Adult learners bring a lot of experiences to the classroom, and sharing and discussing brings a different perspective. Role playing helps students to look at a situation for another's point of reference. I tried to get students to determine the best way he/she learned in order to use that style when completing assignments or studying.
Students can learn at any point in their lives, and understanding the needs of adult learners, gave me the opportunity to help students create goals and develop a plan to achieve an education that would bring those goals to fruition. I ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy children and learning together with them. I find the world a wonderful place and enjoy sharing the splendors of creation with young people. It is natural for me to work one-on-one with children as I have done for many years as a homeschool mom. I am convinced that reading and writing are key to developing the thinking process, and believe that learning to express oneself clearly and accurately within the marvelous grammatical system we have inherited is a great asset. At the same time, there is great delight and creativity unleashed through imagination. Books open these doors for us.
