I teach to the student's strengths and continually tailor my instruction to my observations and assessments of the student's learning preferences and progress. I have 12 years of K-12 experience as a special education teacher, and nine years experience as a tutor. I have tutored, math, reading, phonics, social studies, study skills, science, test preparation, composition, and spelling. Groups are beneficial because there are a variety of opinions, abilities, and skill levels, thus teaching students the importance of unity in the workplace and classroom. Buddies are important because they give students someone other than the teacher to go to with questions that may seem "silly" and give them someone with whom to share concerns. Throughout my undergrad at Spring Arbor, I was a mentor as well as a co-leader of a small group to children ages K-12 which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also have had previous supervisory experience as the director of an after school program for an entire school year, as well as a day camp counselor for two summers; both with elementary age children as well.
