I have been working with preschool to high school age students since 2004. A Little Bit About Me...

I am comfortable tutoring lower level math classes, mechanical design, or other engineering classes. Writing classes such as English, literature, or fine arts are fine as well. I have a BS in Mechanical and Aerospace engineering from MIZZOU. I am very proficient in technical editing, critiquing papers and writing technical papers.
Hands on, Practice based, through step by step instruction. Visual learning whenever applicable. Geometry, algebra, physics, and some calculus are in my range of teaching. I prefer to begin by having the student describe the current subject matter to the best of his/her abilities to determine a starting point. I have found that having the student talk through the subject matter can be useful in determining his/her strengths and level of understanding. I like to have the student work through some problems they have not been assigned from their book/notes so that they are able to practice and work through some other problems before attempting any assignments. I have also found that it is useful to go over any previous quizzes or tests related to the current subject matter as difficulties are sometimes related to previous work because with these subjects the work tends to build upon itself.
I have been selected as a peer tutor through Carlow University for Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.

As a teacher, my goal is to touch and help the future. I am very creative and pride myself on thinking outside of the box, in order to instruct my students in a non-typical style if necessary. I enjoy making the classroom and learning fun, because it is easier to learn and stay on task.
