A Little Bit About Me...

Although I feel lecture, guided instruction and practice are a very important part of teaching mathemeatics, it is usually not enough as abstract ideas have difficulting finding relavence with most students. I rely heavily on my past experiences in my engineering career to draw real world examples to bridge this relevence gap. Additionally, I make extensive use of the TI84 graphing calculator to suppliment all lessons possible for the visually and kinestetic learner. I have a real passion for math and science and believe any willing student can become proficient in advanced courses such as Trigonometry, Calculus and Physics if the proper mentoring is given.

I worked at San Jacinto College North as a Math tutor for all math levels for almost 2 years. Then, I worked at Galena Park High School with a 10th grade class in a program called "GEAR UP" for about 1 yr until they shut the program down for funding issues. I really love Math and always had a desire for helping other students understand the subject.
As a fairly young male, I can relate to most everybody and try to break things down into a way that they can easily understand it. I am patient and enjoy working with students. I have had great results with my tutoring and I always received compliments from everybody that I tutored.

I would describe myself as a very patient and understanding person. I always make sure that the student understand the concept and is comfortable with the explanations given to him/her before continuing with the problem. Being successful in tutoring, is realizing that the student is able to complete a problem on his/her own without my help.
I earned two bachelors degrees from LSU: one in Mathematics and one in Computer Sciences. But I would be more interested in tutoring FRENCH. I am a native FRENCH speaker and I've been in the country for over 20 years. I go back to France every summer to visit my family and would like to share my experience and teach the languague to students in the Spring, TX area.
