My teaching style will depend on your child's needs. I have found that the easiest way is to make notes and practice problems to go over, then allow them to show me what they can do. With writing, I prefer that your child do a rough draft before meeting with me so that I can show them what they are doing wrong and how to fix it.
In high school, I was frequently the one that people came to for help. It was then that I realized I was extremely good at teaching. My senior year, I spent all day helping four different math teachers, one of which was frequently absent. In order to keep her class from falling behind, she had me make notes and go over practice problems with her classes. Reading Comprehension is one of my top subjects! Writing papers and reading comprehension is probably my strongest area, I have recieved A's on college level research papers, narratives, and various types of essays. Excellent proofreader as well.

For math problems, I usually work problems and explain each step, and then have the student attempt to work a similiar one when they feel like they understand the problems. I try to be as helpful as possible while still focusing on the goal of total understanding for the student, as well as the ability to work a similiar problem independently with confidence. For paper writing, I would have the student brainstorm some ideas, and then together we could discuss the pro's and con's of the topic and organization choice, and provide tips on how we could better the assignment. I am willing to give as much or as little help as a parent would prefer, as good grades are one goal but the students mastery of the material is the most important.

A Little Bit About Me...

I'm an assertive motivator. Learning should not be repulsive, children love to learn by examples that they can relate to. I find the opportunity to combine the likes and dislikes of the student and mold them into a constructive solution. Using metaphors and similes are more of my specialties. I'm a recent graduate of Rust College.
