Experience Summary
Hello I'm Robert! I am a sophomore majoring in History at New York University. I have always loved history. Some of my earliest childhood memories are of joyfully snuggling up in our family room’s giant checkered armchair with one of my favorite history books. At the age of eight, when other kids started to read books like Harry Potter or the Percy Jackson series, I was reading the Wicked History series about historical figures such as Vlad Dracul or Cixi. While many other children might have found non-fiction history books dull, I found myself much more mesmerized by the lives of these historical figures than I was by a fictional boy wizard. Reading these books, I was able to completely immerse myself in history. From my home, I was able to imagine what it must have been like to sit in the Roman Senate while Cicero delivered his Philippics speeches condemning Marc Antony, or to have been a fly in the room during the Constitutional Convention.
I want to tutor because I wish to instill this feeling of engrossment and passion for history into other people. I have always firmly believed that the best way to learn history is by thinking about historical figures and events as real stories about real people, rather than simply viewing them as abstract concepts in the distant past. This approach to learning history has brought me a great deal of success in school, and I will tailor my tutoring to this.
I will be an outstanding history tutor because you would be quite hard-pressed to find anyone as passionate, and knowledgeable about history as myself. I can tutor in most fields of history (please inquire), and I am able to be flexible teaching in the way that works best for each individual student.
I charge a non-negotiable flat rate of 50 / hour. I want to help the students I work with as much as possible, therefore I always welcome any suggestions or feedback that students and parents might have. I am extremely easy to reach, and I encourage you to reach out if you have any questions!
