Experience Summary
I am a K-12 Reading Specialist working as an Instructional Facilitator, Literacy Coach/Interventionist, Beginning Teacher Coordinator, Read-To- Achieve Coordinator, and Professional Development Facilitator for adult learners at a school in North Carolina. I have also served as a reading tutor for many years as an educator and recently completed Orton Gillingham training to tutor students with dyslexia and other intensive reading challenges. I hold a bachelors in elementary and middle school language arts and a masters as a K-12 Reading Specialist and Academically Gifted Educator. I bring many years of teaching experience to my tutor job including: kindergarten teacher, first grade teacher, literacy coach for teachers, reading interventionist for K-9 students, K-5 IRT and curriculum writer. I am a mom to three wonderful children and a wife to my husband for over twenty years. Look forward to learning with you!
Teaching Style
I believe building strong relationships with students allows for the most relaxed learning environment. This relationship, coupled with targeted instruction using multi-modalities always for reading to solidify the reading process.
My Hobbies
I am also an online English teacher through VIP Kid which I consider a hobby! Additionally, I enjoy long walks with my dog, cooking, and reading! I am a mom to three wonderful children and a wife to my husband for over twenty years. Look forward to learning with you!
