Teaching Style
My teaching philosophy includes using a hybrid of integrated teaching methods. I teach human
anatomy using interactive lectures, dissecting human cadavers, using pre-dissected cadavers,
plastinated human specimens, plastic models, and technology programs, such as anatomage table
and computer programs. The teaching is integrated, system-based, functionally and clinically-
oriented. It also integrates Gross Anatomy with Embryology and Histology. For teaching
Embryology, I use interactive lectures and support them with movie clips and internet sites. I use
paraffin embedded slides for light microscopic examination to teach Histology, together with
electron microscopic illustrations. .
Other Comments
The teaching process is enhanced by using small group discussion; as tutorials, seminars, and
problem-based learning. Case scenarios are carefully prepared by PBL committee and presented
to the staff before offering it to the students. I have experience with problem-based (PBL), team-
based (TBL) and self-directed active learning pedagogy. My teaching is active teaching, student-
oriented, aiming at life-long, self-learning.
