Experience Summary
I am a retired Art Teacher, with a current Ohio Teaching license and 33 years experience teaching Elementary Visual Arts. I am interested in teaching art to students in a smaller setting and provide more individual training and art experiences. I love children and love children’s art, and feel some children best express themselves through the arts.
Teaching Style
The arts teach children to make judgments about their environment without a right or wrong answer, and that there are many ways to look and solve a problems. Art is a way for children to express themselves without words in the literal form or numbers as only measured on standardized tests. Meaning the limit of our language does not limit a child’s cognition. I believe the arts teach children to observe and solve problems from many perspectives. Art enables us to have experiences that no other source does. It should be relaxing, hands on, enjoyable, and also a learning experience. I would allow the student to help decide what he or she is interested in working on and learning about in the arts and take our journey from there.
