Experience Summary
I'm self-taught in PowerPoint and Word, starting in 1998. My computer experience goes back to 1985, attending Carnegie Mellon, where all students were required to learn how to use PCs and Macs in the first semester. My experience as a temp and later a freelancer have brought me into contact with hundreds of businesses, editing and later creating templates for use in PowerPoint and Word. I have developed a training session that allows users to learn best practices for updating existing documents to new templates, and how to create documents that will be easier to edit down the line. Training uses the custom templates, so users see their own templates in action while learning many tricks and tips to keep new documents in alignment with corporate design requirements.
Teaching Style
Fun and thorough. I'm also a stand-up comic, so I want my audience to be entertained. I find that helps make certain concepts more understandable. I also LOVE questions and always make sure students are keeping up as we dive into more complex aspects of PowerPoint and Word.
My Hobbies
Comedy, scuba diving, face painting.
Other Comments
I'm in the process of getting certified in Office, but I find that most users just want to learn the basic tools that make templates work, vs. just making documents look right. All my experience is on the ground, designing and editing templates for real-world use. PowerPoint is my first love, but I've also taught Word classes.
