Experience Summary
I have been a teaching and laboratory assistant for eight years through my undergraduate and postgraduate studies. I've focused on marine ecology, but I've also helped with field ecology, field biology, and marine biology. After finishing my PhD, I taught a marine biology course at my undergraduate university and thoroughly enjoyed the experience; however, I've decided to continue my research career in the way of a postdoctoral fellowship. Eventually I would like to have a research professor position, and do both!
Teaching Style
I understand that everyone has different learning styles and different amounts of time to absorb material. I try to teach concepts in a variety of manners to reinforce key points and I try to keep it interesting to the individual. For instance, when I taught marine biology at IUS, each student chose their own, unique organism to study and write a literature review on throughout the semester.
