Experience Summary
I have just recently graduated with a Learning Behavioral Specialist degree from Illinois State University. I will be starting my teaching career at a High school working in a self-contained and resource classroom.Through my program at ISU I have been given a variety of strategies including for subjects as well as behavior management that I feel has allowed me to be successful in the classroom. I have had extensive experience not only teaching but turning as well. I have worked with students ranging from Pre-K until Seniors in High school. I also have taught a wide variety of contents, although English and Reading have been my strongest areas. Some qualities that I feel make me successful when working with students is my patience. I am aware that certain subjects and skills are extremely difficult and confusing to students. Taking time and making sure that if they are not understanding something to change the way I am explaining it helps me provide the students with the tools in order to be successful. I am extremely flexible when making sure to fill in times to tutor as well. Whether I need to bring materials, am there for homework help, or am needing to do both I always make sure to provide my students with the necessary materials and strategies in order to make them as successful as possible.
Teaching Style
I like to work with my students to find the best way to help support them with any skills that need to be enhanced. I want to make sure that my students are learning skills and strategies that will not only help them when I am there but in the classroom as well. I also am big on supporting my students to being as independent as possible without them needing to reach a frustration level.
