About Me

Experience Summary

I am a professional tutor for middle school, high school, and college level mathematics, physics, and SAT/ACT Prep. My tutoring expertise is based in four and a half years of experience as the Head Tutor for the Physics and Mathematics departments at the University of North Carolina at Asheville (UNCA), three cumulative years of SAT/ACT Prep experience, and a deep passion for helping students embrace their unique potentials and reach new heights.

Teaching Style

During my time as Head Tutor at UNCA, regardless of department, I tutored over 200 students in mathematics and physics. Of those students, at least 80% saw an increase of at least one letter grade and at least 20% saw an increase by two letter grades. Many students I tutored in one subject came back to be for tutoring in the other. For many of my students I served as an invaluable mentor who guided them from their earliest days as a college freshman to the day the walked across the stage and earned their degree. Over the past five years, I have helped more than 100 students gain admission to their dream colleges and have averaged a score increase of approximately 260 points for the SAT and 6.5 points for the ACT. I have personally played a role in the lives of students who have earned admission into such institutions as Stanford, Duke, UVA, Cal Tech, Georgia Tech, UNC, and UPenn. Over the years, I have developed a very efficient method for identifying and addressing student needs using a curriculum that is custom fit for each student. This curriculum includes a carefully proportioned combination of test taking strategies and academic development. When you hire me, you are not hiring just another tutor. Rather, you are hiring a mentor, dedicated to his students and driven to push his students to be the best that they can be.
