Experience Summary
Over the last few years I have assumed several leadership roles. I have served as the curriculum connector for my team at Ridge Elementary. In this role I obtain and share information with my teammates about curriculum changes and guidelines in the district. During the past eight years I have served as a FLEX facilitator at my school. In this position I have collaborated with teachers of all elementary grades to support the at risk children at Ridge. I was a mentor teacher for two school years when the district employed official mentors. I am currently the grade level representative for the electronic grade book group. I volunteer as a coach at my school for a group called Girls On The Run. We work with third, forth, and fifth grade girls to help develop high self esteem and healthy living habits.
I obtained my master’s degree in Reading and Literacy in 2010. This experience has given me a deeper understanding of how children of all ages learn to read and develop comprehension skills. I have developed a considerable toolbox of strategies to assist students’ learning during the course of this program. During the summer of 2011, 2012, and 2013 I taught Title One summer school in the Plainfield School District. I was fortunate to receive very valuable training during the summer that I believe will help me to develop into an even more effective educator. I also have experience as an after school Title One tutor. During the summer of 2014 I worked as a teaching assistant at BMLC.
I am a dedicated educator determined to help the students of Plainfield District 202 reach their individual potential.
Teaching Style
I believe in positive reinforcement. Building on the child's strengths to work towards learning goals always works best. Strengthening student's confidence helps the student to take risks and learn new things.
