Experience Summary
During my University years in Austria I taught German and tutored singers at the Landestheater Innsbruck Opera House. On the side I taught guitar and piano, as well as conducted several choirs.
Moving to America I taught German to classical singers in Maryland.
Once I moved to Florida and graduated from American School of Jewelry, I taught jewelry classes to children and adults at said school.
Teaching Style
Learning should be fun. Yes, there is a certain amount of rules that have to be followed in order to get the curriculum done, but even the most boring classes can be turned into a fun learning experience. I am always finding ways to get the student involved, even if they do not like the subject.
As an example, I was called by a mother saying that her son hates his piano lessons and wants to quit piano all together. I sat down with him and he told me that he does not want to continue playing scales and those stuffy exercises and songs.
So I thought about it and gave him some contemporary music - music you hear on the radio - and a couple weeks after we started, his mother called me all excited that her son sits now for hours at the piano practicing his songs. He even started doing scales again, because it helped him with the music he was playing.
My Hobbies
Drawing and designing in AutoCAD, designing and making jewelry, reading and writing.
