Experience Summary
My last position in public accounting was as a Senior Tax Manager. With Courtaulds Coatings I was the US Tax Manager, I prepared the income, franchise, excise, GST tax returns, managed the staff for sales tax preparation and compliance as well as managed all the audit activities for each. I managed the risk management for the US coatings, fibers and aerospace divisions. While owning my own consulting business I managed all the accounting and tax (individual principals, corporate, sales and payroll) activities for a group of clients owning 5 business in 2 states. Additionally, I had several other accounting and tax clients covering a variety of engagements. In the last 3 years I have had only a hand full of individual tax clients as my duties at Humana were full-time.
As CFO of Oaks Health I was responsible for all financial and accounting functions of a 4 division consolidated mental healthcare entity and prepared all of the Corporate and Partnership Tax Returns and Provider Tax Returns.
In 2007 I was an Adjunct Professor with JCTC teaching Corporate and Partnership Tax, Cost Accounting. While at Welenken, Himmelfarb & Co. I was also a guest speaker at the Louisville Bar Association for Estate and Fiduciary Tax issues.
The tax software packages I have used are CCH ProSystems, Lacert, Intuit Turbo Tax, Tax Act and CCH Sales tax. CCH is the primary research software I worked with.
When it comes to financial/payroll software systems I am very proficient with QuickBooks (several versions), Peachtree (now Sage 50), Oracle, Mas90 and GreatPlains and limited use with PeopleSoft for payroll.
I am proficient with all products of Microsoft Office Suite; Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Lynx, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. I am also proficient in Microsoft Visio.
Teaching Style
I taught as an adjunct professor with JCTC for awhile and really enjoyed the students, both traditional and non-traditional. I found my teaching style fluctuated based on the needs of the students in my classes. I taught Cost Accounting and Corporate and Partnership Tax
