Experience Summary
I worked as a tutor while doing respite work for United Cerebral Palsy of Orange County in California. I am proud to say that the young man I worked with the longest is now finishing his BA in justice studies at Cal State Dominguez Hills. I also tutored as a substitute aid for the Ocean View School District in Orange County, California. After earning my BA in journalism from CSUF I have published in a number of print and online media outlets, and I am currently pursuing an MFA in creative writing.
Teaching Style
Communication is key, so I will look for the specific interests that a particular student has and connect with where their strengths reside. From there we can build on these high points and draw them into other areas where their abilities need improvement.
My Hobbies
I love to read and write across all genres, usually averaging about an hour of both each day, if I'm lucky. I also keep an active lifestyle, usually working out in some way at least four times a week, and am proud to have completed the Eco Challenge Marathon on Catalina Island in 2013, and the Tough Mudder at Big Bear in southern California in 2012. My wife and I like to travel, and recently moved to Arizona after having lived in Santiago, Chile, where we had the opportunity to explore South America before taking a six week trip across Europe.
