Experience Summary
I have a BFA in Graphic Design from OSU. I am proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Dreamweaver. My Emphasis was in Illustration and studied traditional art forms in college as well. I have been tutored myself from age 8 and on into high school where I took various advanced drawing and painting courses. I can draw in charcoal, pencil, pen and ink and paint in colored pencil, chalk pastel, oil pastel, watercolor and acrylic. I also am versed in Art History and the origin of many techniques. I work currently as a freelance graphic designer/ illustrator.
Teaching Style
I like to lead by example, actually do the piece with the student (whether it is graphic design or traditional art). Creating Art is a visual action and must not only be orally taught. I will walk my students though techniques and then allow them to create a piece unique to their own creativity but incorporating the technique originally taught. I also like to add in the history behind the art. In formal educational institutions the history of the art is also taught and I personally think it gave me a better understanding of techniques and appreciation for other artists and graphic designers.
My Hobbies
I love doing fun house projects and incorporating my creativity into it. I draw all the time and I love to paint. I also play video games and like movies.
Other Comments
I have taught art before. I have assisted in classes at the Philbrook with an old instructor of mine and I tutored a student individually in drawing I was in my first year of college. I like teaching and although it does not pertain to art, I also taught a bible study to 7-8th grade girls while in college. I have two younger sisters who are still in high school and because of them I have a tender spot for students and younger people.
