Experience Summary
I have a comprehensive background in the social studies having utilized all of my college elective courses to take social studies classes for my secondary social studies composite teaching certificate. I have a year of direct teaching experience of U.S. History and World Cultures and geography, and for the past 13 years I have worked directly for the Texas legislature drafting legislation. I am incredibly familiar with the processes of government and as a lifelong Texan, have taken enough Texas history (and lived enough of it) to help any student with their studies. I graduated cum laude (with honors) from both Texas A&M and the University of Houston Law Center. During law school, I served as the executive editor of the Houston Journal of International Law and was tapped by the Law Center to tutor first year law students in study skills.
Teaching Style
Typically, our first meeting would be to discern what you need-- where are you struggling? where do you need extra help or motivation? What are your goals? With your input, I would create a syllabus to follow over the course of the period of time for which you desire tutoring services. If you need help with particular assignments, need me to create assignments for you, or recommend additional resources, we can work any of that in.
