Experience Summary
My teaching experience has been centered around a field of a court. Since the age of thirteen I have been helping a wide age group of kids learn to play soccer and basketball. When I was in high school I helped to volunteer at camps often running my own drills and games. Continuing into my college career I continued to teach soccer. At Augsburg College we have a camp each year for the kids from the Cedar-Riverside community. It is put on by the men's and women's Augsburg players. Though this is our biggest camp of the year, we have many more such as our President's day camp or our Memorial day camp. At each camp we devote our time to teaching kids how to head the ball, kick properly, strike, and teach them new moves while helping to perfect their old moves.
Teaching Style
My teaching style can be expressed as hands on, or even proactive. I like to get to know my kids and figure out how I can best teach them. There are three different learning styles and I like to involve each of them when I teach. It's important to me to have a good balance when I teach to ensure that each kid gets what they need from me. I believe that this strategy can be applied to the classroom as well.
Other Comments
Though I do not have teaching experience in the classroom, I have learned to teach a wide range of kids from different backgrounds how to play something they are passionate about. I'm very passionate about writing like I am soccer. I believe I can bring my skills from the field into the classroom.
