Experience Summary
I began my teaching career even before graduating High School. I started volunteering my time with homework help and study skills at the local Boys and Girls Club when I was 16 followed by teaching Remedial English to a small group of ELL students at a partnering elementary school. During college, I continued my passion by joining an organization that teaches life and social skills to developmentally delayed young adults. After graduating from SFSU, I persued my TEFL certification which allowed me to live and teach in China for 6 months, while developing fun an innovative curriculum that allowed young students to start acquiring English skills from scratchet. Since then, I have continued designing hands-on curriculum for English, Literature, Science, Math, Dance, Visual Arts, Life Skills, and College Prep. I have also been a manager, coordinator, coach, and director at several after school on-site enrichment programs.
Teaching Style
I believe in a highly individualized approach. We all have different learning styles: visual, auditory, kinisthetic... and many more. What's yours? Learning shouldn't be a chore, but an avenue to becoming a more successful person. I like to set goals with my students and help them knock them out one at a time, creating a lasting sense of accomplishment and heightening motivation for future endeavors.
My Hobbies
I LOVE to read! My other hobbies include trying new foods, going to museums, camping, yoga, and (just recently) embroidery
