Experience Summary
Hello,
My name is Hazel Sherin and I am currently a Freshman at The New School. As a high school student I decided instead of taking a foreign language to take sign language as an alternative. Prior to taking ASL 1, I was completely unaware of Deaf Culture and The Deaf community. In learning some of the history and attending Deaf events, I rapidly fell in love with the language. Unfortunately, I only reached ASL 3, as I only started taking it as a Sophomore. Since then I have taken one ASL 2 course in college just as a review because that is all that is offered at my school. With that said, I am extremely passionate about integrating what I have learned thus far, and developing my skills beyond the classroom setting while reaching out in some small way. I would love more than anything to be a part of a community where I am able to share what I can in an interactive setting.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is open. If a student feels that they have a specific approach to learning, I am free to try my best to accommodate specific ideas and or needs.
