Experience Summary
Since coming to the Charlotte region in 1996, I have had a wide variety of experiences as a language teacher, having taught in public, private, homeschool, summer school and tutoring situations. Although my primary focus is teaching French, I have also had the opportunity to equip students in Spanish I and II to continue with their language studies. Passionate about providing students with cross-cultural experiences, I have been the lead teacher on five different homestay trips to France with students from grades 5-11, as well as coordinated homestays for visiting French students with families in the Charlotte area. I have also coordinated five different "immersion camps" for students, ranging in age from 5-17, creating for students a more "hands-on" approach to learning language.
Teaching Style
I believe every student can learn, and as a result incorporate a variety of learning techniques to address a variety of learning styles. I wish to develop students in the four language proficiencies (reading, writing, listening, speaking), and as a result I use a lot of hands-on activities which involve movement and engagement on the student's part. At every opportunity, I try to create a multi-sensory experience of language learning for my students, so that they may fully "taste" various languages and cultures.
My Hobbies
Singing, dancing, reading, creative writing (especially poetry), travel, and creating memorable experiences for my students and children.
