Experience Summary
As an educator with over ten years of experience, I have a wealth of knowledge and experience that will help children to excel. I attended Trinity School in New York City, where I had the opportunity to receive a high-quality education. From there, I matriculated to Columbia University. At Columbia, the core curriculum and the requirements for my major consisted primarily of English and history courses. One of the main reasons that I decided to attend Columbia is because of the focus on the core. I wanted to receive a well-rounded liberal arts education. When I became a teacher, my passion for English and literature enabled me to instill a passion for reading in my students, who had previously struggled with reading. It gives me great joy to teach students and to help them become better learners.
Since graduating from Columbia in 2005, I have received dual certification in Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities. I was also chosen by my principal to participate in a teacher leadership program in 2010. In 2012, I completed course work at Bank Street College of Education in the area of educational leadership, with a focus on special education. I am certain that for all of these reasons and more that I can help give students the tools to be successful in school and beyond.
