Experience Summary
I have over five years of experience in teaching and one-on-one tutoring with students ranging from elementary-school children to undergraduates. I worked as a peer tutor at the Colorado College Writing Center throughout my undergraduate education, helping students with all stages of the writing process. I went on to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA at an educational nonprofit, where I helped young children to improve their literacy skills. There, I also taught after-school classes in science, homework help, and gardening at two local elementary schools. During my master's degree, I worked as a poetry tutor in multiple middle schools in Scotland.
Teaching Style
I have a flexible teaching style that aims to address the individual learning styles of my students. I believe in helping students reach the point where they can use the skills that I am teaching them on their own rather than relying on my services. I believe, as well, that a serious focus on learning should be tempered by a sense of fun - by making learning enjoyable.
My Hobbies
I am an avid runner, reader, swing dancer, and blues dancer.
