About Me

Experience Summary

An enthusiastic, creative, and passionate educator, mentor and advisor who believes that all children can learn and thrive in a learning environment that is stimulating, comforting and appropriate to their unique talents and abilities. • Strong Computer skills applications in Microsoft Word & PowerPoint. • Specializations include: Business Education & Special Education K-12 and Adults in Community Colleges. • Engage Parents – Work closely with parents throughout career, repeated successes securing a high level of parental involvement. • Leverage Resources / Strategic Collaborations – Work closely with district leaders and community partners to encourage parental involvement and strong community alliances. • Utilize a visionary approach with consistency to help students past the threshold of not-knowing to knowing and develop to their fullest extent

Teaching Style

Assessment of teaching effectiveness The two words that best describe my teaching style are adaptive and creative. During class time, I expose students to various stimuli that allow them to drive their own learning. I use the following: • Show media & movie clips (To aid visual learners). • Written homework assignments (To inspire reading/writing oriented learners). • Music to help students understand abstract concepts (This approach benefits auditory learners). • Lecture using a Socratic method for all students. I believe my classes are 80% student driven and 20% instructor driven. I have always approached the process of teaching with a facilitator’s mindset. Clearly, each course has overall learning objectives, but the process to achieve those objectives can be hindered or advanced by the instructor’s skill at being a resource to empower versus creating dependency. In both corporate settings and in my psycho-education classes, my students leave my courses both inspired and motivated to use their newly acquired skills.

My Hobbies

I love to play golf and Travel with my wife, who is gospel singer.
