Experience Summary
I am an Ivy-league engineer with experience in pre-medical work. I have been tutoring formally and informally since high school. I have a passion for education and love to share that passion with future generations. I have formal experience tutoring young children and high schoolers with math up to pre-calculus and science. At the college level, I usually tutor chemistry (up to organic chemistry) and biology (up to introductory genetics).
Teaching Style
As a teacher, I aim to develop out-of-the-box independent thinkers, future professionals and researchers, who have strong sense of real world application of knowledge. My methods include: flexible presentation of the material (audio, visual, kinesthetic), real world examples to ground the material, the Socratic method of questioning to encourage critical thinking, data analysis and organization to encourage ownership of the material, self-aware student learning to develop efficient study skills, as well as career oriented planning to help students develop foresight and maintain a competitive edge. Most importantly, I believe in positive teaching methods to develop confidence with a "can do" attitude.
My Hobbies
Hiking, kayaking, reading fiction and journal articles, writing poetry, general philosophy
