Experience Summary
I am both a right and left brain thinker evidenced by the fact that I have both an academic undergraduate degree and a fine arts undergraduate degree. I have taught college students Graphic Design at Otis College of Design as well as Geography, Social Studies, and Art to K-6. I have spent 30 years as a Graphic Designer and Creative Director at educational institutions. I value instilling pride of accomplishment and critical thinking skills above all else, not matter what the subject. When a student has both of those he or she can learn almost anything.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is creative, casual, positive, intuitive, and focused. I teach a striving for excellence not just in a particular subject but in life in general. I set a high bar (based on where the student stands) and I help the student achieve it. I believe there is brilliance in us all.
My Hobbies
Travel. Reading. Politics. Movies. Live Theatre. Hiking. Biking.
Other Comments
I feel that volunteering in the community is imperative. I currently serve on my Neighborhood Council and act as Planning & Land Use Chair for 5 communities. In the past I volunteered at my daughter's high school for the PTSA and as a Prop Master for her Children's Theatre Group. I have spoken on Graphic Design at conferences and at Art Center college in Pasadena CA.
