Experience Summary
I have a Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College and a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. I have taught and tutored ELL Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking and Grammar from basic to advanced, as well as Spanish I, & II, Conversational Spanish I, II, & III, Intermediate Spanish, Portuguese I & II, French I, & II, German I & II. I have also trained peer and professional tutors at the Writing Lab and I have directly supervised language instructors as head of the Spanish Department at Sarasota School of Arts and Sciences. Moreover, I have developed curricula for the above mentioned courses in order to increase student retention. I have also collaborated with my colleagues by creating a one-on-one conversation component to our Spanish classes pairing native-Spanish speakers with students and by sharing cultural power-point presentations and supplementary material.
I am currently working as an Instructor of ESL and Foreign Languages and an ESL/Writing/World Language Tutor at Middlesex Community College and Northern Essex Community College. I have taught in various settings such as The Flexible Studies Department, the traditional classroom and regularly tutor numerous subjects at the Writing Lab. These positions have helped me develop my teaching, organizational, and computer skills. Moreover, I have strong interpersonal skills and have received excellent student and professional evaluations throughout the years. Also, I am quite familiar with Latin American and European cultures. I have lived in Mexico, Spain, Germany, and Austria and have traveled extensively in Latin America and Europe.
Teaching Style
I like to involve the student as much as possible (student participation) and I also have one on one conversations with students, and I aslo implement reading, writing, grammar and listening and speaking as well as culture.
