Experience Summary
I received a B.A. in English from Northern Illinois University in 2010. I am a certified High School English teacher for grades 9-12. I took a class during my B.A. called Advanced Essay Composition and I feel like that shaped the way that I write; and took my practice to a whole new level. It is strategies and methods that I learned in this class that I try to incorporate in my writing and my teaching. I've worked in a residential/ school setting for the last three and a half years. I completed my student teaching in the spring of 2012 at Grayslake Central High School and a long term substitution assignment at Lakes Community High School in fall 2013. I will be finishing my Master's Degree in teaching over the summer of 2014.
Teaching Style
I feel like I can teach the most efficiently in a one-to-one setting. This allows me to tailor instruction to a student's particular needs.
My Hobbies
I enjoy cooking, reading and writing. I also like working on cars, engines, bikes and pretty much anything with a motor and wheels. I've been working on cars since i was 15. It's something that I really enjoy doing.
Other Comments
I really do care about helping my students succeed. If your needs are not something that I can help with, I will tell you.
