Experience Summary
I have been teaching private music lessons for over 3 years and have taught many students ages 5 through adult. I teach saxophone to the advanced level and beginning piano and clarinet. I can also tutor and teach music theory, music history, world music, and composition. My speciality is jazz and improvisation. I love teaching and playing music and will take on any student that wants to learn. I have a M.A in Music and much performance experience.
Teaching Style
I teach lessons tailored to the individual student's needs. I use a variety of books and my own supplemental materials, and also include listening in lessons. In every lesson I focus on warm ups, technique, sight reading, and performance repertoire. I am very open to having the student bring in songs they want to learn or work on specific things they are interested in. I always try to make the lessons as fun and enjoyable as possible, as well as educational.
