Experience Summary
I'm Brazilian. My name is Pedro, and I graduated in 2008 from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, in Brazil, with a B.S. in chemistry teaching. I also earned my master’s degree in analytical chemistry in 2011 (bilingual - English/Brazilian Portuguese).
Currently, I live in Orlando. FL and I'm an experienced chemistry and Portuguese teacher and tutor. I am familiar with all aspects of physical sciences. I can help you with different chemistry topics such as balancing equations, stoichiometry, concentration/molality, Lewis structures, electrochemistry, organic chemistry and much more. Besides, as Brazilian native speaker, I have a vast knowledge of Portuguese grammar, reading comprehension, spelling, writing, pronunciation and more.
Teaching Style
I am available to tutor my students in their home (for those living in the metro Orlando area), or students can come to my home or have tutoring sessions online. The student can choose the best and most convenient method for their needs! This flexibility is designed to help meet your scheduling needs and give you timely instruction. Online tutoring is available through classes via Skype as a live alternative for students who cannot take tutoring lessons in person. Students are taught in real-time, using the resources of voice and video through video conferencing. The class is unique in that the connection is not shared with other computers and each student receives individual dedicated attention to best suit their specific areas of interest. Tutoring online in this type of private lesson is effective, convenient and affordable.
My Hobbies
I like reading, going to the movies, going to parks, biking, singing karaoke etc.
Other Comments
I enjoy teaching Portuguese using common and everyday terminology. That help students learn and become proficient in the language quickly. My students vary for those wanting to learn Portuguese for a trip to Brazil, to students that have Brazilians clients and want to learn Portuguese in order to better communicate with them. I belong to a Facebook group called “Só Português e Inglês” which people exchange knowledge and help each other with English and/or Portuguese. It’s very fun and helpful. Besides, since many Portuguese foreign language books often utilize a lot of old-fashioned expressions and dialogues that aren’t part of students’ everyday life, I decided to make my own education materials, which include reading, grammar, exercises, videos, audios and contextualized, interesting topics which awaken an interest in students, without using long and tiresome texts.
