Experience Summary
I have a BA in Nursery School-8th Grade, MA in Reading, Certification as a K-12 Reading Specialist and Supervisor. I have 25 years teaching experience. I am currently working as a Response to Intervention teacher with 1st and 2nd graders. Most of my students have Spanish as their home language. I am not a certified bi-lingual teacher however, I have experience in conversational Spanish and am participating in a computer language program to increase my proficiency. I was awarded Teacher of the Year. I have also held numerous leadership roles and positions for my school district. I have served as a Mentor to Novice teachers and University students, acted as Co-Advisor for school committees and clubs, worked on curriculum writing committees, and participated in parent literacy and community support activities.
Teaching Style
I am dedicated and enthusiastic. I use a hands on approach with differentiated instruction. I encourage parent support and can provide resources. I believe struggling readers can achieve success by helping them acquire confidence and a motivation to read.

I read educational publications to keep informed of effective teaching techniques. I also participate in workshops designed to improve student reading comprehension and word recognition.
