Experience Summary
I have 8 years experience teaching high school mathematics in Rutherford County, TN. I taught Pre-Calculus (3 years), Algebra I (6 years), Algebra II (3 years), Geometry (2 years), Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry (2 years), and Bridge Math (1 year). I am very familiar with the newest Tennessee curriculum standards, especially for Algebra I and Algebra II and their End of Course Examinations, as well as for Bridge Math, the newest implemented course in the Tennessee high school mathematics curriculum. I also have 2 1/2 years experience teaching at the private school level, in both high school (Geometry, 1 year) and middle school (7th grade math, 2 years; 8th grade Pre-Algebra, 2 years). Furthermore, I also taught at the university level, teaching College Algebra for 3 semesters at Middle Tennessee State University. I have a wide variety of experience with tutoring, both in individual, private settings as well as in public tutoring labs on campus at Middle Tennessee State University. I have worked with honors-level students, and I have worked with learning disabled students, and everything in between.
Teaching Style
I am a very energetic teacher, and I try to incorporate as much FUN into learning as I can. I believe ANY student can learn mathematics, as long as they are patient with themselves and are willing to keep trying. I like to use a wide variety of things, especially technology (graphing calculator), graphics, videos, and hands-on activities whenever I can.
My Hobbies
I love to be around people; I am a very social person. I love cooking and baking. I love to drive. I love to listen to music, mostly Christian contemporary, worship, and gospel music. I love being outdoors, so I love to work in the yard or play golf, or go for a walk or a hike. I really like watching great movies and documentaries.
Other Comments
I am a Christ-follower, and I try to honor Jesus in all that I do. I really enjoy helping others, whether that is math tutoring, serving in my church, or just being a good friend to one in need. I pray I can be a blessing to each student who seeks my help in their journey to learn mathematics.
