Language and Cultural Assistant, Maestro Rodrigo School, Aranjuez, Spain October 2011-June 2013
• Taught preschool English, 1st and 2nd grade English, Science and Art, and 3rd grade English in a public bilingual school through the Spanish Ministry of Education fellowship program
• Encouraged students to speak in English by engaging them in conversation throughout the day, never speaking Spanish with them and praising their use of English
• Fostered an interest in American culture by teaching lessons and leading activities on topics such as school in the US, Halloween, and Thanksgiving
• Collaborated with head teachers to add linguistic and cultural content to thematic units and to meet individual student needs
• Participated in daily classes by introducing and reviewing vocabulary, doing daily routines such as date and weather, explaining concepts from the textbook, and helping students with independent work
• Prepared 2nd grade students for the Trinity oral communication exam through conversations one on one and in pairs
