Experience Summary
Hello - I am Debbie. I love to teach reading, vocabulary words, spelling, writing and study skills. I am a published author and a freelance writer. For nearly 2 decades I have mentored and tutored a diverse group of learners of all ages (kindergarten through adult). I am very passionate about sharing my excitement, enjoyment and skills in reading and writing, (including all related subjects) so that my students will become inspired to achieve and become successful in all areas of learning.
I am a graduate of Hahnemann University, School of Health Sciences; Humanities. Currently, I am adding to my educational goals by earning a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies, Elementary Education (K-8). As a volunteer at my community library I tutor ESL, reading and writing skills. I am looking forward to working with many new students and I hope that you will be one of them.
Teaching Style
I am very proud of my positive approach style of tutoring and believe that praise for every effort made is essential. My students receive incentives as they progress through their learning objectives. I promise to use several techniques to help you learn; such as games, art, cooking, scavenger hunts, play and much more. We will not be sitting at the table every session just filling in worksheets. Learning will be a fun process and I will be learning along with you as I learn more about you.
