I love to teach reading! From Phonics and letter recognition to sight words and stories! Reading is key to learning. I have helped many children develop reading skills by working on basic activities such as sounding out letters and word recognition. My seven years of experience as an elementary guest teacher gave me the opportunity to work with students to gain reading comprehension skills. As a tutor, I've also incorporated different books and stories for each child. |
As a tutor, I have taught study skills such as eliminating distractions when doing, use of flashcards and organization of their school folder. Doing homework as soon as possible is another way for children to retain and understand the subject that is being taught in their class. |
All of my tutoring and teaching assignments have included vocabulary lessons. I have worked with students to help them learn new words and meaning. Vocabulary work usually involved reviewing definitions, adding new words and memorization. Working with Huntington Learning Center included vocabulary tutoring in context with sentence placement and comprehension. |
