Experience Summary
I have been performing for eight years on the violin. My education includes music instruction since third grade, private instruction for over three years, and an advanced education in music theory. I have performed in multiple ensembles, including: Syracuse Youth Symphony, a multitude of Advanced Orchestras, CNS String Quartet, Crane Youth Symphony, and other miscellaneous groups. I have been teaching privately since September of 2012. Previously to this I have been a sectional leader for two years for the Cicero - North Syracuse High School Orchestra, instructing a group of ten violinists at least once a week before rehearsal.
Teaching Style
I feel as if students of the violin should develop musically as well as skill wise. Not only should you improve in your technical skills, but also your ability to interpret music on multiple levels. Also, I believe very strongly that not one student learns the same way, therefore, I will observe and analyze their responses to certain lessons and create a way of learning special to each and every student.
My Hobbies
My hobbies include many ensembles, especially performing in a pit orchestra and a string quartet. I also have experience in a local band playing guitar and lead vocals, however, the group disbanded last year. Composing is also a great hobby of mine, original pieces and medleys, to perform in a group I founded this year. Non-musical interests of mine include reading classic literature, strategic gaming (Monopoly, Chess, etc.) and animals, especially my two golden retrievers.
Other Comments
My studio is simply a room in my house dedicated to music. With that said, parents are more than welcome to come sit in on the lessons; it is encouraged that you do! Also, because I am a student myself, lesson times WILL switch in the fall if you choose to continue. Also, if I have a loaded schedule in the summer months, some slots might have to be cancelled to fit into the school year. However, I do not see this becoming an issue soon.
