Juvenile experience as follows:
Muskegon River Youth Home 2006
• High security transports and pickups. Direct night and day supervision. Administered meds. Checked in clients and preformed cavity searches. Food prep and serve. Suicide watch and behavior management. Supervised hygiene and showers. Organized and supervised recreational activities. Physical intervention/ restraint when required.
Pineview Homes 2005-2012
• Low security facility. Worked as a team with co-workers and created house routine together. Monthly facility meetings and restraint training classes. Coached basketball team. Med administration. Organized job lists and upkeep of living quarters and dining commons. Food prep and distribution. Organized Sleep schedule. Sent clients off to school and picked them up. Organized and supervised recreational activities. Supervised hygiene and showers. Taught various life skill classes (e.g., gardening). Dealt with behavior management including implementing facilities rules/regulations and consequences when necessary. Worked with co-staff and supervisors on behavior management and how the house should run. Relationship building and reflection with clients. Physical intervention/ restraint when needed. Ran detention unit when needed. Supervised and delegated house chores. Provided transportation to community activities. Worked with a diverse population including: emotionally impaired, cognitively impaired, eating disorders, youth with autism impairment, neglect and abuse, and learning impairments.
Community Mental Health 2012-Present
• Structured and implemented an assisted living plan for a severe cognitive impaired adult (18 years of age). Worked one on one preparing client for activities of daily living/ life skills. These included food prep, med administration, minor medial administration (e.g., cuts), hygiene (e.g., washing clothes, showers, basic house chores), buying groceries, assistance with homework, and behavior management. Provided transports to and from school. Provided opportunities for client to participate in summer and winter Special Olympics.
Teaching experiences as follows:
Tustin Elementary School September –December 2010
• Student taught 5th grade general education. Created thematic units and adapted them to the Tustin Elementary curriculum and also to state requirements (G.L.C.E.). Collaborated in creating individual education plan with speech therapist, special and general education teacher, and principle. Held student teacher conferences for over 60 students.
Muskegon River Youth Home May –August 2010
• Student taught 7th to 12th grade general/ special education with a variety of learning disabilities including, but not limited to cognitive and emotional impairment. Was responsible for creating thematic units that were generalized for the class, but also included accommodation on an individual basis. These units were created for middle school to high school math, science, language arts, and social studies (Upon request could provide a copy of these units). Collaborated in creating individual education plan with speech therapist, special and general education teacher, and principle.
Substitute teaching at Pineview Homes and Evart Public Schools 2010-Present
• Substitute teach k-12th general and special education classrooms. Ability to follow and implement a detailed lesson plan left by classroom teacher. Provide behavioral management. Ability to think on feet and provide alternative activities throughout the day.
Technology/ Computer Advisor 2004-2011
• Advised and edited all computer related duties for Dr. David Johnson. Duties included transferring all written text to Microsoft Word; Organized and debugged all computer equipment; handled all digital transactions and files.
