Experience Summary
I have some experience in tutoring in general. I have tutored fellow students who played the flute, I have also tutored fellow students on reading and spelling. I have a brother with a learning disability so I spent my entire adolescence helping him with his school assignments and helping him with his reading disability.
Teaching Style
I work with the students making them feel comfortable, never making the feel overwhelmed but enough work that they are working on the assignments that I give them. There is never any passing or failing, there is only learning. I welcome questions, I actually prefer a student to ask me 800 questions then not understand a topic that we will be covering.
My Hobbies
I attend church frequently, and love any type of music. I play some piano and am a experienced flute player. I also love to read, I do not have a favorite book or author because there are just so many that I love.
Flute |
Proficiency: Experienced
|
I have been playing the flute for about 10 years now. When working with the student I will work on their music reading abilities, articulation, and performance. I would like to achieve a mastery of the flute. Every student has the ability, it's about finding their specific way of playing their flute. |
Reading |
This is one of my top subjects!
Proficiency: Experienced
|
Reading is a passion for me for two reasons; One because I am an avid reader and two because my older brother has a learning disability and I spend evenings helping him with his English/reading homework. With any student I would like to achieve a grade level increase. |
Reading Comprehension |
This is one of my top subjects!
Proficiency: Experienced
|
Reading comprehension is a great subject. Some students have trouble with reading sentances but not even remembering what they read. I would work on their consentration and get the student to better understand and recall what they read. |
Spelling |
This is one of my top subjects!
Proficiency: Experienced
|
Spelling can be a great struggle for some students. I will work with them on sounding out words before spelling and giving little tests ever so often on their memory for words they learned to spell. I will work with every student on their grade level, and my goal would be to achieve at least one grade level increase. |
