Experience Summary
My artistic background is wide and rich. I am a three time participant in the nationally known and annually held (since 1921) Summer Indian Art Market, where I have sold many of my paintings, and , am a current member of the prestigious Legends Gallery, located in downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico. I have recieved commissions from both private businesses (billboard signs), community centers (murals) and NBC, enlisting me to build several clay masks for the pilot television show, "Reconstruction". I have privately tutored children in drawing and painting as well as taught art classes to children on the Crow reservation in Montana for the Center Pole Community Center. Along with art lessons including clay building, painting, and drawing, I also taught my classes about teamwork, study tips, and coping with reservation life.
Teaching Style
I like to encourage kids on how to see the world in simple shapes and lines; I feel as though learning art is learning how to "see". My students find that they have more ability than they previously believed, and that believing in themselves is the most important asset that an artist, or anyone, can have. I help them become confident! My techniques stretch beyond the paper and canvas so that, in the end, whether they become skilled artists or not, they learn to appreciate their own "unique-self" and individuality.
Other Comments
I love to teach, especially young people. I feel as though many of the problems ravaging the world today can be avoided by exposing young students to the right people who know how to teach and love giving the extra care children need. Teahers are underrated and underpaid. Without them the next generation knows nothing! So lets take care of our children by doing what we were put on this earth for! P.S. I am a Sante Fe resident one part of the year and an Omaha, NE resident the rest of the year, but would be willing to move to another city to finish the course of my duties if the situation is right!
