As a Paraprofessional, worked side by side with the Special Education teacher and helped teacher implement lesson plans, aided students in carrying out day to day tasks and stay focused, kept open communication with parents of Special Education children to help transition process from school to home & home to school. Assisted children with many needs that could not be met independently, such as bathroom breaks, medical attention and lunch/snack hour. Maintained behaviors though out the day, even on the playground to ensure safety of students. Worked one on one with non-verbal autistic children, learning how to communicate with children through use of Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).
