Experience Summary
I currently teach children and adults a variety of classes including painting, drawing, mosaic making, printmaking, fiber arts and collage. I believe that everyone is an artist and that everyone needs creativity of some sort in their life to create balance. By making art, I believe that other areas of academics improve by exercising the right brain as well as the left brain. All too often creative fields are tossed to the side , and schools focus on state testing...I firmly believe that art and creative fields in general are " sit-ups" for the brain and create a better balanced healthy human being...of any age or ability. I prefer to teach cross curriculum including art appreciation, historical information of certain topics, using math as a tool for art and teaching children new vocabulary words by direct experience...my passion for art and teaching spills into the final products of all my students who finish assignments with great pride and enthusiasm ...over the past threes years I have taught camps, been a visiting artist at several locations, received a grant for community projects, taught children, adults and developmentally disabled adults...I have won awards and had the pleasure of being a juror for the Everson Museum in Syracuse NY.
